The port is served by a modern and convenient cruise terminal on the downtown waterfront. The Port of Norfolk, Decker Half Moone Center cruise terminal is located at One Waterside Drive. The terminal is located beside Nauticus, an interactive science and technology center and home of the Battleship Wisconsin, the entrance of which is at the corner of Waterside Drive (turns into Boush St.) and Main St. W.

Norfolk's container terminal is divided into 3 sections - South (4 berths, area size 272 acres / 1,1 km2), North (2 berths, area 245 acres / 1 km2), and Central (50 acres / 0,2 km2). You won't get a wide selection of stateroom categories or a chance to select your stateroom location but if your schedule is flexible you just might find a cheap cruise price on a last minute cruise.

Glass Light Hotel & Gallery offers guests deluxe accommodations for one night and valet parking for $20 each night for one vehicle for the duration of your cruise in the Boush Street Parking Garage. Rates are available the day prior to embarkation from Cruise Norfolk. The parking is located a few blocks away, but there is a complimentary shuttle. It is suggested to drop luggage off at the terminal prior to parking.
Traffic around the port can get hairy on cruise ship turnaround days, especially if there's a festival on at the adjacent Town Point Park. Plan accordingly, and consider getting dropped off or picked up a short walk from the terminal. The Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center does not have any amenities worth noting.

Carnival Cruises is currently the only cruise line which sails from Norfolk. Culture vultures will be pleased to discover Norfolk's lively arts scene, which includes the Virginia Opera and Chrysler Museum. Dining-wise you'll find everything from down-home country cooking to fine cuisine. There's a zoo, botanical garden, minor league baseball team and a beach close by. The seaport has direct rail access to Heartland Corridor (railway serving freight trains) and is also connected to North Carolina Highway 42. The Port is adjacent to highways 64 and 564, and via Terminal Blvd to Hampton Blvd (Norfolk City), with additional access to roads 17 and 58.
The structure of the bridge is so heavy that pieces will need to be cut so that they can be handled by cranes. Shore excursions will focus on day trips to historical places, such as the living museums of Colonial Williamsburg and the Jamestown Settlement, and the Revolutionary War battlefields at Jamestown. While these attractions are certainly worthwhile, you don't need to head out of Norfolk or even take a tour to have a fun day in port.

Norfolk, a city with a storied maritime history, is located at the junction of the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean in southeastern Virginia.
